Eternal Development Model – 1

Sukhasya mulam Dharmah| सुखस्य मूलं धर्म:

Dharmasya Mulam Arthah| धर्मस्य मूलं अर्थ:

Dharma is the root of happiness and economy is the root of Dharma.

This is the chronology of happiness according to Chanakya, the great Bharatiya political and economic commentator. In modern economics, wealth is considered to be the means of happiness, as it enables consumption. Happiness according to present economists is result of consumption. Hence consumption is the Center of economic growth. Demand is proportional to consumption which in turn promotes production resulting in employment, wealth and finally growth in Gross Domestic Production – GDP. This is the contemporary formula of globalised development.

In the evolution theory proposed by Charles Darwin in his book on biology titled ‘On the Origin of Species’, he proposed Concepts of Natural Selection through constant ‘Struggle for existence’ resulting in ‘Survival of the fittest’. A fierce competition between Geo-Politics and Economics started after Herbert Spencer applied these in the social sciences. Adam Smith economised individualism through his thesis that Nation’s wealth is the sum total of wealth of individuals. Sociologists Hobbes, Locke and Rousseau commercialised relationship by propagating the ‘Social Contract Theory’. Russian born objectivist turned novelist Ayn Rand stated that every human is basically selfish through her version of capitalism as portrayed in her famous novels ‘Atlas Shrugged’ and ‘The Fountainhead’. Based on these ideological foundations, the western and more specifically American developmental model evolved in the last century.

On the other hand, the Russian Revolution inspired on the binary of class struggle between the two halves of the whole global population into ‘haves and have nots’ proposed in the book ‘Das Capital’ by German authors Marx and Engels, created a government centric administration and economic developmental model. This ideology rejected not just society but also the institution of family and proposed collective living in herds like animals in the ‘communes’, thus the name ‘Communism’. After the Bolshevik revolution of 1917 in Russia, Lenin created systems based on the ideology of Communism and his prodigy Stalin imposed the fear of establishment ruthlessly.

It was applied more stringently by Mao Zedong in China. In the decade of 1950CE, he massacred millions of artists, writers and other thinkers in the name of ‘Cultural Revolution’. With the failure of the concept of revolution through economic exploitation, the Italian communist Gramsci proposed ‘Cultural Marxism’. Contrary to the title, this theory proposes destruction of established culture to facilitate revolution. Diagonally opposite to the cruel methods of Mao, this ideology is uprooting cultures in most of the democratic countries with oft-changing nomenclature such as neo-liberal, sub-alternism, wokeism, etc. through educational institutes and academicians. These divisive forces are found very active in the universities of even the so-called capitalist countries.

With the disintegration of USSR into more than 15 nationalities in 1989, West proclaimed that the world has become unipolar. American strategist of Japanese origin Francis Fukuyama wrote the book ‘End of History and the last man’ claiming the entitlement of American model to be imposed in the whole world as the counterpart has failed. With the foundation of World Trade Organisation (WTO) in 1995, the whole world was forced to follow the American Developmental Model. Adapting to the changing scenario, undemocratic Maoist China also converted into a commercial country. The whole world started the dance of total destruction in the name of development. Everyone participated in the mad race of GDP growth. Nature, environment, human mind, relationships and Sanskriti (much deeper than culture) that nurses all these humane sensibilities became secondary. All were engaged in the senseless blind competition to multiply profit and technological advancement for the same. None paused to observe the state of affairs of the leader whom they were following blindly.

The case is like the farmer in the ‘Sick Sheep’ parable. When the farmer’s dear sheep got ill, villagers advised him to consult the village chief as his sheep had also been similarly infected. When asked what treatment was given to the chief’s sheep, he was informed that it was given kerosene to drink. The farmer followed the chief blindly and made his sheep drink kerosene. When the sheep died next morning, he went and had an argument with chief. Unfazed chief replied, “You never asked the result of the treatment and followed ignorantly. My sheep also died the next morning.” The American and Chinese sheep is also dead long back, yet their failed lethal ‘developmental’ model is being thrusted world over.

The effort to gain prosperity at the cost of Sanskriti and society has choked the world. Families are broken and lost completely in some countries. After a detailed survey of almost all the states in US and large sample data collection, family expert sociologist David Blankenhorn concluded that 46% of the adult Americans (above 15 years) do not know who their father is. They live in single parent household mostly with mothers. Many of the mothers also are unaware of the biological father of their children. He named his book published in 1995CE as ‘Fatherless America’. It became instant best seller and was debated nationwide. He claimed that the destruction of family was responsible for most of the ills of modern American society, especially the growing crimes.

Mass killing by random shooting has been on increase constantly. Last year 2022CE registered more than 22800 deaths in 647 incidents of rampant gun abuse. First four months of current year 2023CE has already recorded 203 incidents that amounts to almost 2 cases of mass shooting everyday resulting in almost 60 deaths on an average. Road robbery, robbing departmental stores, drug related crimes proportional to their population are many times high in western ‘developed’ countries in comparison to Bharat. The stats of Crime against women is even worse. Rapes per hundred thousand population in USA is more than 28 in comparison to Bharat’s 1.24 (Even one case of rape is deplorable and unacceptable in Bharat). This is the result of the efforts of creating wealth by selling family, society and Sanskriti.

Has all this really been fruitful? USA claims to be the most developed country with largest GDP in the world. But is it really wealthy or prosperous? In August 2023 CE, the USA GDP stands at 26Tn$ but the national debt stands at more than 32Tn$ on the same date. The ratio being 137% of the GDP. Total unfounded debt is much higher almost four times the GDP at 102Tn$. Visit for details — https://www.usdebtclock.org/index.html#. Any individual or business entity with this kind of credit history would have been bankrupt way back. The condition of American people is also very critical. Almost one third of the federal budget has to be spent on social security. The share of senior citizen food tickets is 80% of the total social security expenditure. Total number of senior citizens dependent on government dole is 67%. The orphans or neglected children and a large number of unemployed youth are also a burden on the government. The number of homeless and beggars is growing rapidly. Simultaneously there is rise in crime and drug addiction. The internally collapsed edifice of American palace is hanging perilously on the fragile support of enormous military power and the intellectual property amassed by attracting the best brains from all over the world.

The USA show of economic process is funded by the whole world. Use of dollar as the exchange currency and imposition of unnecessary products including the fields of health, defense, agriculture and food sector has been financing the American economic survival. At the same time, the USA development engine is fueled by 40% energy and 60% natural resources of the whole world. 4% of the total world population consumes 36% electricity and 42% crude oil to produce 60% of the world’s pollutants. If this model of development is followed by all the countries of the world, the resources of more than 25 planets like earth will be insufficient.

The suppliers of the poison of individualism, consumerism, licentiousness in the name of global market are themselves getting affected by its lethal effects. The domestic conditions of China which used market for its expansionist policies are more pitiable and explosive than that of the USA. Though facts are rarity in case of China because of absence of democracy and free media, the accounts of those Chinese citizens taking asylum in other countries are heart wrenching. Both these failed models are so interdependent that they are cooperating with each other to avoid complete destruction and collapse.

Russia along with emerging economies like Brazil, South Africa competing with the west and China in its own game, with same set of rules. Bharat has claimed the Center stage at the global platform when it awakened the dormant economic power with the help of family centric accessible policies and its society’s intrinsic entrepreneurial spirit. Same game and same rules, yet the artistic skill and expertise of the players is truly Bharatiya. The secret of this dynamic progress is in the creation of a user-friendly unique technology using the god-gifted talent, simple, completely secure digital system capable of transactions in large volumes and developing unprecedented infrastructure with domestic financial resources and using balanced self-reliance.

A paradigm shift in the international affairs resulted in the space launch must now be emulated as a quantum jump in the economic field. When the electrons revolving in its orbit in an atom loses its negativity and gains energy, it jumps the orbit. This is called ‘Quantum Jump’. Now is the time for Bharat to change its orbit. After establishing capacity to develop following the existing model, it’s time to change the game itself not just the rules. In place of economic system based on half-baked material ideologies, a model based on complete Bharatiya vision of life is the need of the time. In Bharatiya social life, the bridge of Dharma between happiness and wealth is in practice. This needs to be evolved into a model of transactions, trade and policy including parameters of evaluation as an Eternal Development Model.

Be We need to create a model which will not only treat and save the sheep, but ensure its complete nourishment, shelter, other well-being and destiny so that it can guide the chief also.

  1. Wonderful. Eager to see an article emphasising Eternal Development Model, which of course will be pragmatic. I believe & hope, inference from such thoughts will induce course correction to the ill-fated western model of development adopted by us and ROW to save & nourish the sheep, farmer and chief of the village.

  2. Great analysis and an engaging essay – which must be disseminated among the youth of Bharat !

  3. Very cogent critical analysis ! The essay beautifully and logically tells us how Sanatan Dharmi economic order can be established for the protection and sustenance of our home – the planet Earth!

  4. Really it’s time to adopt new economic model globally which based on Dharm and eternal in nature.
